Andrew Stain author of the Keep It Simple series answers his readers’ questions,
One of his readers says – ‘in my location the economy seems to be in a constant down cycle. I am anxious to start my own business, I have created the plan and followed all of the appropriate preparation steps, but I am really hesitant to take the final step because of the local economic conditions’
This is certainly not the first time that the situation has arisen, and I suspect it will not be the last. The circumstances that you describe is a challenge rather than a setback. In your area there are probably many potential entrepreneurs who are all waiting for that shift in the economy to launch their business ventures.
Launching now not only gives you the time advantage. But it also puts you in the same category as many other very successful businesses. Some of the giants of industry and commerce started during a time period that we know as the Great Depression and many of these companies continue in existence today.
Getting started now means that when your ‘competitors’ finally take the plunge you will already have an established business and be well ahead of the curve.
Double check your numbers and your facts. If everything is in order then give some serious thought to launching your venture even in difficult economic times.
