This question, what is entrepreneurship seems to surface more than others. Individuals seeking to start their own venture are often confused with the term. Naturally, there is the dictionary definition and I will leave you to review that for yourself – here we are more concerned with the practical and specific business aspects of entrepreneurship.
We tend to look upon entrepreneurship as an all-embracing situation that takes care of all of the aspects of starting a business and running a business. Everything from the staff to inventory, from premises to a social network and so on….
If you are aspiring to be an entrepreneur, then you have to think of some of the characteristics and qualities of an entrepreneur and see if they truly apply to you. For example are you an individual that can multi-task, are you an individual that is qualified and skilled in a specific trade or industry, are you an individual that has exceptionally good people and communication skills, the list is obviously never ending but hopefully you get the idea.
Owning your own business and working from a home office are stage-one dreams for many, many people, these are people that we would probably class as entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship, therefore, embraces a diversity of skills and backgrounds and also the ability to take a risk in a new venture and to be comfortable with that risk.
Entrepreneurship is about many things but above all, it is certainly about planning and making sure that you have the right template available for whatever new business thinking of creating. The art of entrepreneurship is closely tied and allied to the art of planning. Without a plan, you have no direction and you’re probably not a true entrepreneur.
