There comes a time in all businesses when the owner, the founder has to acknowledge that it is time to build their team. If they have been used to working on their own for a number of years as they have developed the business the thought of a structure involving employees can often be traumatic.
One of the things that I would strongly recommend is don’t try and do everything on your own. Once you have determined the job description for the new position then consider using a headhunter or employment agency to provide you with suitable candidates. While there may be a cost involved remember that the agency will have done all of the pre-screening work and will also check references and backgrounds.
Likewise, as you create a team of employees you will be faced with the need for new systems such as payroll and any tax accounting that may be applicable in your area. Again, use a competent professional to assist you with this work. The comparatively small fee that you pay is always well worth the peace of mind that comes with knowing that everything has been done in accordance with requirements.
Building the team is important and exciting but remember to use outside professional help to make the task manageable and rewarding.
